The Ceylon Speciality Estate Tea of the Year competition which was organized by the Sri Lanka Tea Board and Colombo Tea Traders’ Association was held in Dubai on the 9th of February 2015. The competition was organized with the aim of promoting the most exquisite teas of the seven tea producing regions of Sri Lanka and to celebrate the exceptional efforts of the estates. The event was held at the Gulfood Exhibition which is the region’s premier and the world’s biggest annual food, beverage and hospitality event. After having successfully passed through the elimination rounds which saw approximately two thousand entries, Norwood teas secured the Bronze in the Dimbulla category from approximately seventy finalists. Norwood Estate produces some of Bogawantalawa’s finest single estate teas and is renowned for its bright, golden yellow liquor with an orange depth and balanced strength.
BTEL’s marketing arm, BPL Teas (Pvt) Ltd attended the fair which is Australia’s leading trade show which presents new and innovative products from around Australia and from over 45 countries internationally, as well as hosts live demonstrations, masterclasses and industry recognized competitions. This years’ fair was held in Melbourne from the 15th to the 18th of September.
Bogawantalawa Tea Estates PLC sweeps away the trophy for the 1st runners up at the Inter - Plantation Rugby Sevens tournament organized by the Dickoya Maskeliya Cricket Club (DMCC). This has been an annual event for the past 16 years, and carries much historical significance being one of the oldest rugby fixtures in Sri Lanka. Our CEO, Mr. Jayampathi Molligoda was the Chief Guest for the tournament that took place on the 9th of April 2016.

“Ceylon Specialty Estate Teas of the Year” competition is an event organized by the Sri Lanka Tea Board and the Colombo Tea Traders’ Association. In recognition of the discerning tea consumers in the Middle East and Gulf Region, the Tea Promotion Unit of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka office in Dubai staged the finals of the 2015 competition in Dubai.
Following this event, the Sri Lanka Tea Board and the Colombo Tea Traders’ Association presented the awards and certificates on the 9th of May 2016. During which Norwood Estate was awarded the Bronze winner of FBOP grade, Fetteresso Estate received the Certificate of Merit for BOP and BOPF grades and Campion Estate received the Certificate of Merit for BOPF grade.
