Medical Clinic For The Disabled Children – From October To December 2016
One day free medical clinic for 3 consecutive months were conducted in 4 Estates in both Dickoya and Bogawantalawa regions in the Nuwareliya District for the disabled. These clinics were facilitated by Lanka Mother and Child Support Foundation with the resources of Nawajeewana Rehabilitation Centre and support of Bogawantalawa Tea Estates PLC. Based on the medical clinics Screening, physiotherapy, Audio testing, initial treatment with supporting aid for conditions such as club foot and referral services for extreme cases were provided during the sessions that took place in Norwood, Wanarajah, Kotiyagalla and Campion estate dispensaries.
Medical Camp In Deraniyagala
A free medical health camp was conducted in Deraniyagala for the villagers in Anhettigama, Maliboda and Ilukthenna. This was conducted in the Lassanagama Tamil School in Anhettigama in partnership with Anhettigama Estate, LMCSF, Rotary Club of Colombo Regency, Dr. Lakshman Weerasena and his team. The Local Buddhist Monk, OIC of the STF and the new the MOH Dr. Nayani attended the Camp to show their support towards this initiative. Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka Contributed 350 Anchor Tetra packs for the Medical camp to be distributed among the children who attended the camp.
More than 400 residents of Anhettigama, Maliboda and Ilukthenna benefited from this Camp. Random Blood Sugar and general illnesses were treated and others were provided referral Services. Apart from prescribed drugs, all who came for the camp were provided Iron tablets and worm treatment and Children were given vitamins.

With the assistance of Berendina Development Services free Cataract surgeries for those who require are identified and conducted from time to time at the Nuwara Eliya General Hospital.
